Religion Degree Requirements
At Carthage, students can major or minor in religion. Many students choose to double-major in religion and another subject, as it’s easy to combine the flexible religion major with another discipline at Carthage.

A student seeking a major in religion must complete 38 religion credits.
- REL 1000 Understandings of Religion (4 credits)
- REL 2700 Research Methods Experience (1 credit course taken twice) (2 credits)
- REL 4000 Senior Seminar in Religion (4 credits)
- Two courses from each of category I, II, and III below (8 credits)
- One additional course from category I, II, or III below (4 credits)
Note: Any course listed in more than one category may only count once.
A student seeking a minor in Religion must complete 24 religion credits.
